LEADERSHIP IS ABOUT PROBLEM SOLVING AND INNOVATION

The next few years will continue to be difficult budget years for all of Michigan. On the Macomb County Board of Commissioners I have faced difficult budget decisions. I have tackled problems head on, and I will take the same approach at Wayne State. I will take the opinions of every student, employee and the wider community under advisement and facilitate rational discussion before making the tough decisions needed for our future success. I will encourage innovation and new ways of accomplishing goals.

The way forward for Wayne State University and our State of Michigan is not guaranteed.  Our future is what we will make of it, and I am committed to making the future work for all us by:

• Providing education that is second to none.
• Maintaining Michigan’s investment in our Universities and Community Colleges and ensuring affordable tuition for Michigan students.
• Encouraging partnerships and keeping economic development a priority at Universities
• Capitalizing on Wayne State’s research strengths in the development of the new knowledge-based jobs that Michigan’s future depends upon.
• Increasing  International  Relationships
