Dear Neighbor, I am thankful for the help and encouragement you gave me during my two terms as a Macomb County Commissioner. Since that time I have continued to devote a great deal of my efforts to the economic issues that face our community. I now serve as a board member of the Macomb Economic and Cultural Partnership (MECP), an organization dedicated to educating Macomb County elected officials, business, school and community  leaders about  the need for ecomonic development and cooperation between Macomb County and the world.
I am a candidate for Governor of Wayne State University. Yes, Wayne State University, not the State of Michigan. They call the members of the Board at Wayne State University "Governors" and it is listed on the ballot that way. Why do I seek the position? I seek it because I see the interconnectedness between jobs, economic development and education. You have to have all three elements working together to make our state prosper. I feel what we lack is enough local university opportunities for some of our residents. In a global economy, it's never been more important for small and medium-sized businesses to develop international relationships so they can grow and expand and create jobs here at home. Likewise, increasing local educational opportunities for our residents is a priority if we are to successfully strengthen the caliber of the workforce in our communities to entice jobs to this area. I hope to have your support so that we can continue making Michigan a better place. Thanks, - Ed Printable Flyer Ed's Bio - I've lived in the Mount Clemens-Clinton Township area for the past 40 years. My family moved here from Detroit , where I attended St. Matthew's Elementary School on the east side. I then attended Sacred Heart Seminary High School and went on to Macomb Community College for two years. I transferred from MCC to Grand Valley State University in Allendale , MI , where I graduated with a Bachelor's degree and teaching certificate. I returned to this area and rented homes on Riverside Street in Clinton Township and Clair Street in Mount Clemens following my graduation from GVSU. After saving up money for a down payment, I purchased a condominium in Fox Chase in Clinton Township. In 1988, I built my home on Radde Street in Clinton Township, in the Mount Clemens School District, where I've lived ever since. From 1977 to 2001, I was part of Congressman David Bonior's management team, directing his Congressional efforts here in the Mount Clemens office. I left federal service in 2002 to work on Congressman Bonior's campaign for Governor. I completed a Master's Degree in Political Science from the University of Windsor since then, and I now spread my time across a variety of involvements, including mentoring, volunteering on many civic and charitable projects and guest teaching both in and outside the United States. I know the people of our community from serving them and working alongside them for more than two decades. I know the economic issues facing our region and have had to make difficult choices as Macomb County Commissioner for the future of Macomb County.  I make it a priority to find ways to bring people together in order to make our community a better place, and if elected, I will strive to make a difference for our region as a Wayne State Governor.
